UK Hosting Service Terms

Terms and Conditions

These terms explain how HostMeerkat supplies hosting services, how accounts are managed, what customers are responsible for, and the rules that keep our UK hosting platform secure and reliable.

Last updated: 04 June 2026 United Kingdom

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms and Conditions apply when you visit HostMeerkat, create an account, place an order, renew a service, access the client portal, or use any hosting, reseller hosting, domain, email, SSL, support, or related service supplied by HostMeerkat.

By ordering or using our services, you confirm that you have authority to enter into this agreement for yourself or the business you represent. If you do not agree with these terms, you must not use the services.

2. Hosting Services

HostMeerkat provides UK-focused web hosting services designed for websites, applications, email, databases, and related online projects. The exact features, storage, bandwidth, resources, support level, renewal price, and billing cycle depend on the service plan shown at checkout or inside your client account.

We aim to deliver reliable services, but hosting performance may be affected by customer configuration, third-party software, internet routing, domain settings, scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, abuse prevention, or events outside our reasonable control.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate, maintaining secure passwords, protecting login credentials, controlling authorised users, and ensuring that scripts, plugins, themes, applications, and uploaded content are secure and lawful.

  • Use strong, unique passwords and enable any available security features.
  • Keep CMS platforms, plugins, themes, and custom code updated.
  • Review invoices, service notices, abuse notices, and support replies promptly.
  • Do not share account access with anyone who should not manage your services.
  • Make sure your contact email can receive important service and billing messages.

4. Orders, Verification, and Activation

Orders may be subject to payment confirmation, fraud screening, identity or business verification, stock availability, domain registry checks, and technical provisioning. We may decline, cancel, or request further information for any order where we identify risk, abuse, inaccurate details, or a breach of these terms.

Automatic activation times shown on the website are estimates. Some services may require manual review or additional configuration before they are available.

5. Billing, Renewals, and Late Payment

You agree to pay all fees for the services you order, including renewals, upgrades, add-ons, domain charges, licensing fees, and applicable taxes. Invoices are normally generated before the renewal date shown in your client account.

Services may renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. If payment is late, we may send reminders, restrict service changes, suspend services, apply late fees where permitted, or terminate services after continued non-payment. You remain responsible for unpaid invoices for services already provided.

6. Acceptable Use

You must not use HostMeerkat services for unlawful, harmful, abusive, deceptive, or disruptive activity. This includes malware, phishing, spam, botnets, credential theft, illegal content, copyright infringement, harassment, network attacks, unauthorised scanning, resource abuse, or attempts to compromise any system.

Shared hosting must be used fairly. We may investigate and restrict workloads that negatively affect platform stability, security, deliverability, or other customers, even if a plan includes generous or unmetered allowances.

7. Domains, DNS, and Third-Party Services

Domain registrations, transfers, renewals, WHOIS privacy, SSL certificates, control panels, payment processors, registries, and similar services may be supplied through third-party providers. Their rules, availability, validation requirements, and registry policies may also apply.

You are responsible for checking domain spelling before purchase, keeping registrant details accurate, renewing domains on time, and ensuring DNS records are configured correctly. Domain registration fees are usually non-refundable once submitted to the registry.

8. Backups, Data, and Customer Content

You retain ownership of your website files, databases, emails, and other uploaded content. You grant HostMeerkat the rights needed to host, transmit, back up, restore, scan, secure, and provide support for that content as part of the services.

Any backup feature is provided as a convenience and should not be your only backup. You are responsible for maintaining independent, up-to-date copies of important data. We are not responsible for data loss caused by customer actions, compromised scripts, deleted content, expired services, non-payment, unsupported software, or events outside our reasonable control.

9. Support Scope

Support is provided through the channels shown on our website or client portal. We assist with hosting-related issues such as service access, server-side errors, DNS guidance, billing questions, and platform incidents.

Unless separately agreed, support does not include website development, debugging custom code, repairing third-party plugins, managing external platforms, SEO work, content updates, malware cleanup beyond available service features, or administration of systems not hosted with HostMeerkat.

10. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate a service where there is non-payment, suspected fraud, abuse, security risk, excessive resource use, legal requirement, breach of these terms, or a threat to service stability. Where appropriate, we will try to contact you before suspension, but urgent security or abuse cases may require immediate action.

Suspension does not remove your responsibility to pay outstanding invoices. Data may be deleted after termination or after the applicable retention period for expired, cancelled, or unpaid services.

11. Cancellation and Refunds

You can request cancellation through the client portal or another approved support channel. Cancellation requests must be made before the renewal date to avoid renewal charges. Stopping use of a service, changing DNS, or moving a website away does not automatically cancel the service.

Refund eligibility depends on the service purchased, any stated money-back period, the reason for cancellation, and whether the service includes non-refundable third-party costs such as domains, licences, setup work, SSL certificates, or registry fees.

12. Liability and Service Limits

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited. Subject to that, HostMeerkat is not liable for indirect loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of revenue, loss of goodwill, loss of data, or losses caused by customer configuration, third-party services, unsupported software, cyber incidents, or events outside our reasonable control.

Our total liability for a claim relating to a paid service is limited to the fees paid by you for that affected service during the period giving rise to the claim, unless a different mandatory rule applies.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes in our services, suppliers, security practices, legal requirements, or business operations. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new revision date.

If a change materially affects an active paid service, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected customers. Continued use of the services after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection rules require a different approach. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any rights that cannot be excluded by law.
